Supporter Spotlight: The Global Watch Company (GWC)

The Global Watch Company (GWC) is one of Vancouver’s leading watch and jewelry retailers. Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver they have been supporting Big Sisters Soirée presented by Scotiabank for a number of years at both Diamond and Gold level. We caught up with Sassan Pourfar, founder of GWC to talk about their support of Big Sisters and why it is such a meaningful partnership to them.

Can you describe GWC’s connection to Big Sisters?

“It all started with a genuine desire to make a real difference in the lives of young women. We saw this partnership as a way to bring our values, such as respect, diversity, and teamwork, to life in a meaningful way. For us, it wasn’t just about supporting an organization; it was about embracing an opportunity to nurture and empower young women, respecting their individuality, and helping them realize their full potential. That’s what motivated us from the beginning, and it’s what keeps us committed to this cause.”

How does supporting Big Sisters align with GWC’s corporate values and mission?

“Supporting Big Sisters really feels like a natural extension of who we are at GWC. Our values are all about respect, diversity, and striving for excellence, and this partnership allows us to put those values into action. We’re passionate about fostering inclusivity and empowering individuals, and by supporting Big Sisters, we are investing in the future of young women in our community. It is not just about the work we do internally; it is about extending that commitment to the world around us.”

From your perspective, what makes the Soirée event so special?

“What makes it truly special isn’t just the elegance or the atmosphere; it is the genuine sense of connection and purpose that everyone feels when they’re there. We’re all gathered together not just to enjoy a beautiful evening but to support a cause that we deeply believe in. There is something so powerful about that shared experience, knowing that we’re all contributing to something bigger than ourselves.”

What does Big Sisters mean to you personally?

“Supporting Big Sisters is deeply personal for me. As a father to a young daughter, I understand the importance of positive role models and the impact they can have on a child’s life. I wish that every young person has the chance to be inspired and empowered to reach their full potential. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our community come together to support this mission.”
