Eight Times Donations Gave our Littles New Opportunities this Year
Hip Hop Class
On March 18 and March 25, seven of our matches participated in a free hip hop dance class. Thanks to Jennifer Lee for donating the space, a hip hop instructor, and a pizza lunch. It was a very fun experience for our Bigs and Littles.
Canadians Nooner
On July 20 our Bigs and Littles attended the Canadians Nooner game! It was a beautiful sunny day and two of our Littles got to throw the first pitch! They were beyond excited, it was a wonderful day for the matches to get out and have fun. Thank you to Scotiabank for this generous donation.
Bike Build
Boston Pizza was extremely generous and donated seven bikes to our Little Sisters and seven bikes to Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver! One of our Littles was able to attend and build her own bike with the help of her Big Sister. The other six bikes were built by Boston Pizza staff.
The Littles are very grateful for the bikes, and one wrote:
“Dear Boston Pizza, I love me new bike. I can’t wait to ride it. The handle bars are so grippy, the speed is so fast, and the cup holder can hold up to my most heaviest, most full of water bottles. When I ride it, it’s so smooth, and when I fell, the bike didn’t get scratched and I did not get hurt. It’s the best thing to win ever!”
Food Bank Cooking Class
Thank you to Glenda Morin at The Greater Vancouver Food Bank for providing our matches with a healthy cooking class. They all had fun cooking beet-based hamburgers and apple crumble—and even more fun eating it afterwards!
Garden Party
Thanks to two garden plots donated by Evergreen, our matches can cultivate and harvest fresh fruits and veggies this summer. Big Sister Martina Lee even provided our Bigs and Littles with a gardening lesson and the crop is flourishing.
Snowboarders without Boarders
Snowboarders without Boarders hosted a cool day of snowboarding for eight of our matches. They had so much fun learning how to snowboard on Mt. Seymour.
Stars on Ice
Thank you to an anonymous donor who donated their Rogers Arena suite to us so that our matches could watch Stars on Ice. The Littles were beyond excited about this night.
Tea Party
Thank you Marlene Cohen for hosting our matches at The Neverland Tea Salon again this year. The Littles had so much fun dressing up, eating finger sandwiches and pastries, and bonding with their Bigs at this annual tea party. Yum!
