Sign up today — Become a mentor this Fall!
Help youth reach their full potential
Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland harnesses the power of mentorship to ignite the potential of self-identifying girls and gender-diverse youth, helping them to reach their full potential.
This Summer, we are calling on women, non-binary, transgender or gender-diverse individuals from across the Lower Mainland to take the first step to becoming a mentor so they can be ready to Mentor in the Fall.
Note: We have a particular need for mentors in Richmond, Surrey, Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody) and Burnaby or anyone who can help youth with High School Math and Science!
Introducing Big Sisters
Becoming a mentor is as easy as 1,2,3….
There are three steps to follow to become a mentor with us:
Step 1: Review our general guidelines: Being a mentor means committing to between 1-4 hours a week (depending on the program you select) with your Little Sister for a minimum of 1 year
Step 2: Check our requirements: We have a short list of requirements for mentors. Mentors need to be a woman, non-binary, transgender or gender-diverse individual aged 19 or older, and must have been a Canadian resident for at least one year prior to signing up. Check out our full list on our signup page.
Step 3: Apply: That’s it! Once you have reviewed our guidelines and requirements you will be asked to complete the application, attend a training session and join a screening interview before you are matched with a Little Sister.
Take the first step
It takes just one stable, committed adult in a young person’s life to make a difference. By volunteering in one of Big Sisters core mentoring programs you can ensure the girls and gender-diverse youth in our programs get the support they need to build a brighter future. You can make that difference today — follow the link to register.
